Security

Your audio is not our business

We process speech, we do not collect it. Here is exactly what happens to your data, and what does not.

Nothing of your content is stored

  • Audio, text and transcripts are processed in memory and not stored.
  • Results of batch jobs are kept only until you collect them, for 48 hours at most.
  • The text of a synthesis job and the vocabulary of a recognition job are removed as soon as the job ends.
  • Your content is not used to train models.

What we do keep

  • Content-free metadata for billing and security, for twelve months: time, service, mode, language, dialect, voice, audio format, length and outcome of a request.
  • Our web server logs record the address a request came from, without its content.
  • You see the same metadata in the console and through the usage endpoint.

Where processing takes place

  • Our API servers run in a data centre in Switzerland.
  • Speech recognition runs in the European Union.
  • Parts of speech synthesis are handled by specialised processing partners outside Switzerland and the EU, including the USA. They receive only what is needed for the request.
  • Details and the list of processors are part of our data processing agreement.

Keys and access

  • Separate live and sandbox keys. A sandbox key can never reach live traffic or an invoice.
  • Key rotation with a seven-day overlap, and immediate revocation if a key has leaked.
  • Additional named keys per system or team, stored only as a fingerprint.
  • Console with roles, optional two-step sign-in and a complete audit trail.

Clean responses

  • Responses, headers and errors carry only our own names, which makes the API easy to build into your own product.
  • Errors never describe our internals. Every request has an ID to quote in a support request.

Responsible use

Synthetic speech must not be used to impersonate real people or to deceive. Our terms of service set out what is not allowed.
